Linkage Activities under Cross-strait Green University Consortium

-Joint Research Seminar in Energy and Sustainability

-Joint Symposium on General Education

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Nanjing University (NJU) and Taiwan Central University (NCU) established the Cross-strait Green University Consortium in 2011 to consolidate resources to drive joint initiatives that incorporate green concepts into research and education. Under this framework, the 3 universities have been collaborating to organize student activities, host seminars, form research teams and exchange teaching experience.

 

Joint Research Seminar in Energy and Sustainability

 

A joint research seminar in energy and campus development was held at NCU from 15 to 17 May 2013. Prof. Fung Tung, Associate-Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Associate Director of the Institute of Environment, Energy and Sustainability (IEES)led a delegation to participate in the event.  Members attending the seminar from NJU and NCU included Prof. Zhang Rong, Executive Vice President of NJU; Prof. Gin-Rong Liu and Prof. Kwang-Hwa Li, Vice Presidents of NCU.  Scholars and experts in new energy and sustainability development from the 3 universities delivered talks and shared experience at the seminar. The activity provided a platform for exchange of expertise and served the purpose of fostering synergetic collaboration under the Green University Consortium.

Joint Symposium on General Education

 

The 2ndSymposium on General Education was held on 31 May 2013.Ten scholars from the 3 universities attended the symposium on CUHK campus. CUHK representatives included Prof. Fung Tung, Associate-Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Leung Mei Yee, Director of General Education and Program Director of General Education Foundation Program; Prof. Lam Chiu Ying, Adjunct Professor, Department of Geography Resource Management; and Dr. Wong Wing-hung, Associate Director of University General Education. The symposium comprised talks and discussions with focus on environment-related courses. Participants used the time to exchange ideas on topics covering course design, teaching method and how to enhance the course content. Meetings were held on how to incorporate green elements into such programs and opportunities to integrate resource of the three universities on general education development.
